I have no such options in my existing SEP. It also says to go to on the original server: 3.Click Policies > Policy Components > Management Server Lists > Add Management Server List

I understand what it says here but I never get the option to choose Custom Configuration and Use Recovery File. When the Management Server Configuration Wizard runs, choose "Custom configuration" and "Use a recovery file". Reinstall Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager using a disaster recovery file (gathered in Step 2 above). I've installed the same version but it says use the procedures described in the Disaster Recovery. Use the procedures described in the Disaster Recovery in order to restore the database that you backed up from the old server, as well as the configuration files. I've studied and attempted to follow the steps (solution B) here and it just doesn't seem very clear:įor example, when it says: Install the same version of the SEPM you have now on the new machine (1).

You could also always use some GUPS if all you want to do is distribute your definitions.I am having frustrating problems moving SEPM Small Business Edition from our (soon to be) old server to my new one. We found it much safer to push all local clients to their local SEPM, and just restroe or rebuild the SEPM if the local one failed. Otherwise if you are using network awareness you should apply this management list to the "Location-specific settings" in your client group, this way different locations can use different SEPM servers.īut just a reminder though that we tried to use our SEPM's (Each in a different country) in a failover mode, but the WAN was saturated with traffic when a SEPM failed or network awareness was not working correctly. Under the clients tab select the client folder you wish to apply the setting to, select policies and "communication settings", there you can now select the new management list.

Once you have created this management list you can assign the list to your client groups. Create a new management list (or edit the existing default one) and add the second SEPM as a priority 2 server. You can configure this under the policies tab in the SEPM console, expand "policy Components" and look for management server lists. If they are on the same LAN segment then it should be fine. You can certainly deploy clients before a replication is in place, when you do finally put one down you can push out new policies with these settings.īe careful with replication partners for redundancy though, if they are located at different parts of a WAN this failover technique can cause more harm than good with high utilitzation on your network.
